Dr Downes qualified from Sheffield Dental School with Honours in 2005, winning the prize for the most outstanding Oral Pathology student amongst his peers. He also has a First Class degree in Microbiology and Virology from Warwick University.
Since graduation Dr Downes has been committed to developing his skills at preserving teeth and this has led him to complete a Master's Degree in Endodontics at Warwick University.
Dr Downes is similarly committed to improving dental education and has acted as both a Foundation Dentist and a Foundation Therapist Educational Supervisor, guiding recent graduates through their first year in Dental Practice. To support this mentoring role, he has completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education.
An active member of the British Endodontic Society, Dr Downes has lectured on the subject of Endodontics around the country, demonstrating the latest techniques and discussing in depth the evidence that underpins the latest advances in tooth preservation.
As a caring practitioner, Dr Downes will take the time to listen to your concerns and discuss possible therapeutic options and the evidence for their effectiveness. Together, you will develop a treatment and maintenance plan that will ensure your teeth are kept in the best possible condition in the long-term.
